Do’s and don’ts when writing a CV
At a guess, I’ve probably read over 500,000 CV’s during my 20 year career as a recruitment consultant. So I’m pretty well placed to give you a credible opinion on how to write a good CV!
Trust me, I’ve seen far too many that are unpresentable, and an even larger number of ‘could do better’. BUT thankfully, I’ve read an impressive number that ‘stand out from the crowd’.
And this is what you have to bear in mind when applying for a job.
Your CV is the first impression someone will have of you. It is your 60 second shop window as to how you present yourself – before a recruiter or employer has even met you.
So, it needs to make the RIGHT impression immediately if you want a positive chance of being picked to apply for a job. You need to be sure your CV hits the ‘Save as’ button, not the ‘Delete’ folder. Check out the following:
